This organization works to inform and educate Florida’s private
landowners on ways to manage and conserve Gopher tortoises and the
upland areas.
DIAMONDBACK TERRAPIN WORKING GROUP
Dedicated to research, conservation, and education of wild Diamondback
terrapins and their associated habitats, the Working Group meets
every three years to discuss all issues related to this reptile.
FRIENDS OF THE ENCHANTED FOREST
These “Friends” provide
assistance to the Environmentally Endangered Lands Program, as well
as educate the public on issues related to the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary.
GOPHER TORTOISE COUNCIL
Formed in 1978, this organization conducts public education programs,
as well as provides advice for the management, conservation and
protection of the Gopher tortoise and other upland animals found
throughout the Southeastern United States.
LAKE JACKSON ECOPASSAGE
This website
provides important information, photos, and ways in which you can
help reduce mortality on the world’s deadliest
highway for turtles and other wildlife.
THE TURTLE TRUST
As the world’s largest tortoise and turtle website, this group
educates keepers and professionals in correct husbandry; actively
supports conservationist groups; promotes beneficial research on
the species and helps re-home turtles in need.
TURTLE HOMES
With centers throughout the UK, Asia, Canada and the U.S., this Florida-based
chelonian association finds homes for turtles and tortoises that
are deemed unfit to return to the wild.
